Our Vets
Dr. Steven Velling,
DVM
Dr. Velling graduated from the University of California, Davis in 1992 and has been serving the Virginia community since 1996. With decades of experience, he has a genuine passion for caring for animals of all shapes and sizes. When he's not with patients, he loves spending time with his wife and two daughters — and traveling whenever the opportunity arises.
Dr. Abbegail Bingaman, DVM
Dr. Bingaman earned both her undergraduate degree and her DVM from Virginia Tech, graduating in 2007 and 2012 respectively. She now calls Leesburg home, where she lives with her husband Adam, their two children, and a household full of personality — including two dogs and two snakes!
Dr. Jaime Speed,
DVM
Dr. Speed grew up in Charles Town, WV, where she developed a love for animals helping her family care for thoroughbred racehorses. She attended JMU and UGA before returning to the area two years ago. When she's not at the clinic, she's busy at home with her husband, four children, two dogs, three cats, a bearded dragon, two ferrets, a bunny, and a few horses!
Dr. Amanda Hazy,
DVM, PhD
Dr. Hazy earned her DVM and PhD from Virginia Tech, bringing a deep academic foundation to her work. She began her career in large animal practice before transitioning to small animal medicine in 2023. Outside the clinic, she enjoys reading and spending quality time with her family.

What is it and how does this affect me and my pet?
Fear free by definition is the concept of practicing veterinary medicine that involves the reduction of feelings of stress in our patients, which in return will result in a better, more positive experience for all involved.
Why is this so important?
This approach replaces harsh restraints with gentle but effective control to minimize stress to each animal. Our team is trained to read a pet’s body language to better understand the pet’s communication and willingness to participate in an exam.
