You want your pet to live a long, healthy life—but how often should you actually bring them to the vet?
At Hoof and Paw, we know how much your pet means to you, and we’re here to support every step of their care.
General Guidelines for Vet Visits
Puppies and kittens: Every 3–4 weeks until about 16 weeks old
Adult pets (1–7 years): At least once a year for wellness exams and vaccines
Senior pets (7+ years): Every 6 months to monitor aging changes
Any pet with health issues: More frequent visits, based on need
What to Expect During a Routine Visit
Full physical exam
Weight check and body condition score
Vaccine boosters as needed
Parasite prevention and dental check
A chance to ask questions!
When to Come in Sooner
Even between regular checkups, call us if your pet:
Is acting “off”
Has changes in eating, drinking, or bathroom habits
Is limping or licking an area a lot
Seems to be in pain
We believe in proactive, loving care that helps pets stay healthy—not just get better when they’re sick. Have questions about scheduling or your pet’s unique needs?
TL;DR:
Most pets should see the vet at least once a year—more often for young, senior, or sick animals.
