Vaccines are an important part of protecting your pet—but knowing which ones are really necessary can feel confusing.

At Hoof and Paw, we personalize vaccine plans based on your pet’s age, lifestyle, and health history.

Core vs. Lifestyle Vaccines

Dogs

Core (essential):

  • Rabies (required by law)

  • Distemper/parvo combo (DHPP)

Lifestyle-based (depends on exposure):

  • Leptospirosis

  • Bordetella (kennel cough)

  • Canine influenza

  • Lyme

Cats

Core:

  • Rabies

  • FVRCP (upper respiratory + panleukopenia)

Lifestyle:

  • FeLV (Feline Leukemia) – especially for outdoor cats

How Often Are Boosters Needed?

  • Puppies and kittens get boosters every 3–4 weeks

  • Adults typically need vaccines annually or every 3 years

  • Lifestyle risks may change over time—we’ll help assess at every visit
